Lake County is ranked the 4th largest beef producer in the state of Oregon with approximately 75,000 - 80,000 cattle and 170 cattle ranches. Lake County has a population of approximately 8000 people, 20 food establishment, and 5 grocery stores. Yet, majority of ALL beef consumed in our area comes from outside the state or outside the country. The beef circuit is an opportunity to create a local food system where food business circulates within the county.
When people buy food locally, the money spent stays within the community, supporting local farmers, food producers, and small businesses. This helps strengthen the local economy and create jobs.
In times of crisis, local food systems can provide more stability. A strong local food network can help communities weather disruptions in global supply chains, such as during natural disasters or pandemics.
Local food systems give communities more control over what they grow, how it’s produced, and where it comes from. This can promote healthier, more sustainable food options, and empower local populations to make decisions about their food.
We offer a no hassle purchase and pickup for slaughter cows or bulls that are butcher ready. Save yourself time and a trip to the auction yard while providing food for your local community. We take animals to a USDA or State Inspected slaughter facility for processing. Beef is then sold to Lake County restaurants, stores, and direct to consumer.
